Me & my art

Michelle Fundin was born in Sweden in 1985 but has been travelling since graduating high school. She lived and worked in America, Wales, Scotland and South Africa before settling down in London, England, for 9 years. Currently back in Sweden on a farm in Ydre.

“ The inspiration for my art, whether it’s the woodwork or the painting, comes from my surroundings and my memories. As I grew up in the countryside but spent my adult life traveling and in London, I tend to blend these elements in my artwork.

I have become a mix of all these things, and so has my art.

Nature is as present in my art as the markings of a big city. I love things like decay and street art, and when I mix this with the innocence of nature I create something very interesting. I think about these meetings; between people, past and present, between cultures and religions, and between man and nature. What happens? What are the effects? What do we create together? This is what I’m investigating in my work. “
